Over 8,500 European Renewable Energy Systems Exposed Online
Researchers identified 8,547 internet-accessible solar and wind management systems across 35 European countries, creating potential entry points for cyberattacks. Spain accounted for the most exposed solar installations, while Germany and Italy led in publicly accessible wind farm systems. At 181 locations, researchers obtained full control that could allow turbines or entire wind farms to be shut down, while also exposing production data and facility locations. Affected administrators have been notified and advised to remove management interfaces from the public internet immediately.
